Somari 

Biography

Born 1991 in Sievierodonetsk, East of Ukraine, Donbass. Lives and works in Germany since 2022.

Somari is a Ukrainian sci-fi artist whose visual art style is an offshoot of post-graffiti. The artist's contemporary artistic practices are focused on creating a plot and mythology of her own universe with characters. Somari paints walls, three-dimensional canvases, linocuts and carpets. She models and produces sculptures, digital art and creates augmented reality. 

In 2022, she painted several murals in Berlin, Göttingen in Germany, as well as in Armenia, Switzerland and Poland. In 2023, she collaborated with the clothing brand Uniqlo and created a mural in collaboration with an British artist for the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool. Her public art can also be found in and around the St Pauli home stadium in Hamburg. In the same year, she created a mural in Munich and several cities in North Macedonia. In 2024, Somari had an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Ukrainian Art and a collaboration with Ugg for three murals in Berlin.

Education

2003-2007 Art School in Sievierodonetsk, Ukraine.

2008-2013 Master's degree with honours in civil engineering O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
